Straight answers, including the awkward ones.
Where we do not yet publish something — a fire rating, an exclusions schedule, a price — this page says so and tells you how to get it, rather than filling the gap with something that sounds better.
The door system
- What is included in a Doorzzen door?
- Three coordinated components — shutter, frame and architrave — engineered and finished to match. You are not buying a leaf and then sourcing a frame.
- What sizes are available?
- Shutters 32–60 mm thick, 600–1200 mm wide, up to 3000 mm high. Frames 40–60 mm thick, 100–300 mm wide. Architraves 8–18 mm thick, 30–70 mm wide. Identical across all four wooden ranges.
- What is the difference between the four wooden ranges?
- Same core, same dimensions. Veneer gives real grain; laminate gives moisture and impact resistance with sealed edges; skin gives painted colour matching; solid panel gives traditional weight.
- Can I mix ranges across one project?
- Yes, and it is common. Same core and same frame detail across all four, so surfaces can change room to room with no visible inconsistency at the junctions.
- Should I choose a steel or a wooden main door?
- We make both, so we have no reason to push either. A steel security door suits an exposed main entrance: zinc-aluminium frame, anti-corrosion coating for monsoon and coastal air, and no timber in the leaf for termites. The heavier Laminate and Solid Panel wooden ranges also work at a main door. Many homes use steel at the entrance and engineered wood inside, from one supplier under one warranty.
- Which door is best for a bathroom?
- The Laminate range. High-pressure laminate with PVC edge banding seals the core on every side, and it is the range our catalogue states for humid environments. A bathroom door fails at its edges long before its face.
- Do you make traditional panelled doors?
- Yes — the Solid Panel range: finger-jointed, edge-glued solid timber panels, precision-joined, for heritage-style homes. Like every Doorzzen wooden door it comes with a frame and architrave finished to match.
Warranty and service
- What exactly does the warranty cover?
- Eleven years on the structural integrity of the door system, five years on the finish. The two terms are separate and always stated separately.
- What happens after installation?
- A Doorzzen team member attends on site, checks every opening against our published guidelines, and photographs the installation for record. Anything found is put right on the visit.
- What is not covered by the warranty?
- The full exclusions schedule is being prepared for publication. Ask us for the current terms in writing — we would rather send the document than summarise it.
- Where does Doorzzen service?
- We manufacture at Mathilakam, Thrissur. Confirm serviceable territory for your project location with us directly.
Specifying and ordering
- Can I get physical samples?
- Yes. Request swatches to your practice or site address. Worth doing before the specification is written, not after.
- Do you provide technical data sheets and CAD details?
- The library is being produced range by range — data sheets, DWG/DXF details, size charts and specification clauses. Ask for what a live project needs and we will send it directly meanwhile.
- Can you match a bespoke colour?
- Yes, on the Skin range — matched to your palette and applied across shutter, frame and architrave. Few suppliers offer this at door quantities.
- Do you publish prices?
- No. Every door is configurable — range, finish, size, frame width, architrave profile, hardware preparation — so a price without a schedule would mislead. Send an opening count and a stage.
Steel security doors
- What are the steel doors made of?
- 4 mm aluminium front panels on most models, a 1.0 mm zinc-aluminium back panel, frames from 1.0 to 2.2 mm, and an aluminium honeycomb or foam core. Every model has a double-layer stainless-steel threshold.
- Is an aluminium honeycomb core a budget option?
- No. Paper honeycomb is a filler; aluminium honeycomb is a structural core — it resists denting across the whole face, absorbs no water, and will not slump over years of humidity.
- What sizes do the steel doors come in?
- Heights of 2050, 2150, 2250 and 2350 mm; widths of 860, 960, 1050, 1160 and 1170 mm. Single and unequal-pair configurations, with frame and opening sizes published per model.
- Are the steel doors fire rated?
- Not until the test certificate and issuing standard are confirmed. IS 3614 recognises FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 — we would rather say nothing than something an architect cannot rely on. Ask for the current position on a specific project.
