Craftsmanship

Detail is in our DNA.

A door is a simple object made of a great many decisions. These are the ones we make, and why — from timber selection through to the assembly check before anything leaves the works.

Five stages, in order.

The sequence matters as much as the materials. Each stage exists to remove a decision from site, where it would otherwise be made by whoever happened to be holding the door.

  1. 01

    Timber selection

Frames in Beech, Meranti or Teak Pine, or LVL where stability matters more than species. Veneers are sequenced, so a set of openings is matched rather than merely supplied.

  2. 02

    The engineered core

A rail-and-stile framework in solid timber or LVL, filled with solid timber, particle board, HDF or HMR. The part nobody sees and everything depends on.

  3. 03

    Facing and edge banding

HDHMR veneer facing, high-pressure laminate or a textured wood skin. Edges banded to match — PVC on laminate, sealing the core on every side.

  4. 04

    Finishing

PU polish over veneer and solid panel; PU paint on the skin range. All three components finished together, to one reference, in one works.

  5. 05

    Matching and checking

The three components are assembled and checked before they leave. Alignment problems are found here, where they cost nothing.

Engineering for the Kerala climate

Humidity, monsoon and salt air decide more specifications here than aesthetics do.

  • Movement is managed, not denied

Timber moves with moisture, and the wider the piece the more it moves. Engineered construction spreads that movement across many small members instead of a few large ones.

  • Edges are the failure point

Doors fail at the edges and bottom rail long before the face, because that is where the core meets water. Full-perimeter banding is a monsoon detail dressed as a finishing one.

  • Termites get no timber to find

For an external entrance the steel range removes the question — aluminium face, zinc-aluminium frame, and a stainless threshold where water sits.
